Kinja'd!!!

Moving from Toronto to Saskatoon. Flight leaves in nine hours. Still have some packing and cleaning up to do. I am so stoked. Time for a new adventure!

My girlfriend is definitely looking forward to me moving in.

Saskatoon is a fun word to say.

Saskatchewan is also fun. Gets you a good amount of points in Scrabble, too.

Is it even possible to play Saskatchewan? You only get 7 letters right? So the board would have to be set up perfect for it. Whenever I play people always use so many 4 letter words the board is fucked.

It’s entirely possible, the board just needs to be perfect, as mentioned.

Good luck, both with the move and with the moving in with the girlfriend (not sure if you’ve previously lived together). Doing both of those things at the same time is a lot of change, but hopefully for the better.

Thanks! Never lived with her before other than on trips to stay with her or her staying with me, but it will definitely be for the better.

My great grandmother was born in Saskatoon in the late 1800s. They were from a Polish/Ukrainian family of Lutheran missionaries who emigrated there. The first FOBs in my family were Canadian. Later they moved down to Minnesota where it was warmer, and a couple generations were born there (including my mom).

Parts of Saskatchewan make Kansas look like Manhattan (NY, not Kansas). But the city is supposed to be pretty cool. Happy travels!

Cool! And yeah, it’s a nice city. -46 in the winter, but otherwise nice.

But I have to do a nine hour drive across the prairies next week, so I’m sure there’ll be a whole lot of nothing.

Thanks for the well wishes!

As someone who moved far away from home and moved in with my girlfriend at the same time, here’s my one piece of advice: make sure that you still make time for yourself. Spend lots of time with each other, but do something on your own on a fairly regular basis. Otherwise, every moment of your life is either at work, asleep, or with your girlfriend and that can wear on you. It doesn’t have to be much. It can be a weekly card game with friends, a trip to the local dirt track, or just going for a drive, but make a little time for yourself.

Thanks for the advice. Going to be picking photography back up and also thinking of starting up boxing, so I’ll be doing things on my own.

That’s Celsius, if it helps.

Since the two scales are not linear to each other, -40c is equal to -40f. So at that single point, unit doesn’t really matter. -46 is close enough for me!

c=f(1.8)+32

But holy hell that’s cold.

It’s a dry cold. I’m used to -40 from when I lived in Ottawa, so it should be okay.
